Confidentiality

Rape crisis centers have a special kind of confidentiality in the State of Illinois: Absolute Privilege. As a rape crisis center, RACES cannot share any information about the people to whom we provide service.

RACES provides for confidentiality for all victim services. The victim and counselor/advocate have access to private space where services are provided.

Client records may only be reviewed by those permitted by law. This always includes the client and may also include the client’s parent/legal guardian, if applicable. Others may review the client records only with a valid, signed release of information form.
