Part-time Overnight & Weekend Survivor Advocate
RACES (Rape, Advocacy, Counseling, Education Services) is seeking a compassionate individual to advocate on behalf of sexual assault survivors ages 3 through adult in local hospital emergency rooms and to offer crisis intervention to their family members.
Applicants must have at least six months of paid or volunteer experience in a social service setting, use of a personal cell phone, reliable transportation, and the ability to arrive at Urbana hospitals within 45 minutes. This is a part-time, on-call position, and the advocate gets paid whether they are called to the hospital or not. Pay is $35 per shift and $18 per hour of active work.
On-call shifts for Night/Weekend (N/W) Advocates run from 6:00 pm-8:00 am Mondays through Fridays, and around the clock Saturdays and Sundays. Medical Advocates are free to go about their daily lives while on-call, with the understanding that they must be able to leave immediately for the hospital upon receiving a call.
