Crisis Counselors

Crisis Counselor Request Guidelines

RACES can provide crisis counseling support at selected events that may trigger participants.  We recommend requesting a crisis counselor for events that include graphic descriptions of sexual assault or child sexual abuse.

Please review our guidelines before sending your request:

  1. All requests must be made in writing to volunteer@cu-races.org at least 30 days before the event. This gives RACES sufficient time to seek counselors.
  2. Availability of crisis counselors is limited by the number and availability of our trained advocates. We cannot guarantee coverage for your event.
  3. RACES reserves the right to decline requests for crisis counselors.
  4. If RACES is unable to provide crisis counselors, we suggest organizers share the 24-Hour crisis hotline number (217-384-4444) with participants before the event begins.

Email crisis counselor requests to volunteer@cu-races.org with the following information:
Name of Organization, Contact Person, Contact Email, Date of Event, Start Time of Event, End Time of Event, Brief Description of Event.
