Crisis Counselor Request Guidelines
RACES can provide crisis counseling support at selected events that may trigger participants. We recommend requesting a crisis counselor for events that include graphic descriptions of sexual assault or child sexual abuse.
Please review our guidelines before sending your request:
- All requests must be made in writing to volunteer@cu-races.org at least 30 days before the event. This gives RACES sufficient time to seek counselors.
- Availability of crisis counselors is limited by the number and availability of our trained advocates. We cannot guarantee coverage for your event.
- RACES reserves the right to decline requests for crisis counselors.
- If RACES is unable to provide crisis counselors, we suggest organizers share the 24-Hour crisis hotline number (217-384-4444) with participants before the event begins.
Email crisis counselor requests to volunteer@cu-races.org with the following information:
Name of Organization, Contact Person, Contact Email, Date of Event, Start Time of Event, End Time of Event, Brief Description of Event.
